Just call me Twojobs...

Waiting for a job is a bit like waiting for a London bus. You wait for eternity and then two turn up at once.

I got a letter over the weekend from Kirklees Council telling me I had been short listed for a job as Trees Technician, and inviting me for an interview on January 6th. All well and good, but my job as Tenant’s Liaison Officer starts on the 10th. It doesn’t leave much time to change my mind if they offer me the position.

But this is a better job. It’s physically closer, it pays an extra four thousand pounds a year, it’s working for conservation and it’s heavy on mapping and site survey work, which is something I’ve specialised in for the last ten years. You could say the job was tailor made for me. Talk about last minute decisions!

Still. They’ve not offered me the job yet. Just an interview. Having said that, I’ve applied for nine other jobs with Kirklees council in the last six months and not had so much as a rejection slip. The fact that I’ve actually been short listed for one of their jobs is enough to start the butterflies racing.
